After a week’s break the FedEx Cup returns for the BMW Championship at Conway Farms in Chicago, Illinois. The Top 70 tee up in the hope of making the final 30. Unlike the previous two events there is no cut in this tournament so at least our selections will be around for the full four days.
I wouldn’t put anyone off backing any of the men at the front of the market as they are all in such great form. Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas have all had excellent seasons and are bringing their A games to the play offs. At the prices you would have to prefer Thomas who is full of confidence after his first major win.
John Rahm was in contention last time out and it is only a matter of time before he is winning one of these big events.
However, I am going further down the field for my picks this week in the hope of a big price winner
First up is Sergio Garcia at 50/1. The Spaniard had a nightmare when he broke his putter and had to end up using his 3 wood. He will be glad to get back to normal this week and he can end the season on a high.
Next I am backing Phil Mickelson at 66/1. He played some great stuff in the Dell Technologies – although still managed to throw in the odd wild hole. That is always the risk when you are backing Lefty but he does look back to his old self and there is no reason why he cannot compete in these big events.
Finally, at a three figure price I am picking Tony Finau at 100/1. The American is long enough from the tee to make a mark on the course and whilst he has never really challenged in a big event, he certainly has the game.
